Register With Citrus Dental Care

New to the area, returning after a while away, or just finally getting round to it. Whatever brought you here, registering is straightforward and there’s no pressure either way.

Citrus Dental Care, 1 Meadow Place, Edinburgh EH9 1JZ, is currently accepting new NHS and private patients of all ages. NHS registration is free, with check-ups free for all registered patients and full free treatment for anyone under 26. Private registration includes a £70 initial examination covering a full assessment and treatment plan. Patients can register by phone, online, or in person. Translation services are available on request.

Registering as an NHS Patient

We’re currently accepting new NHS patients of all ages, which, if you’ve spent any time searching, you’ll know isn’t something every Edinburgh practice can say right now.

NHS check-ups are completely free for every registered patient. If you’re under 26, all your NHS dental treatment is free, not just the check-up. You may also qualify for free treatment if you’re pregnant or have had a baby in the past 12 months, hold a valid HC2 or HC3 certificate, or you or your partner receive Universal Credit, Income-related Employment Support Allowance, or qualifying Tax Credits. Everyone else pays 80% of treatment costs, capped at £384 per course of treatment.

To register as an NHS patient, give us a call on 0131 285 3308, fill in the form below, or pop in and speak to our reception team in person. We’ll take a few details, book you in for an initial check-up, and talk you through anything you’re unsure about.

Registering as a Private Patient

If you’d prefer private treatment, or you’re looking for something the NHS doesn’t cover, registering as a private patient follows the same easy process.

Your first visit is a private examination, £70, covering a full assessment of your teeth and gums, X-rays where needed, and a clear written treatment plan if any further work is recommended. There’s no obligation beyond that first appointment, and nothing gets booked without you understanding the cost first.

What Happens at Your First Visit

Your first appointment, whether NHS or private, covers the same ground. We’ll take a full dental and medical history, carry out a thorough examination of your teeth, gums, and mouth, take X-rays if they’re needed, and talk through anything we find. You’ll get honest advice on your options, plus practical guidance on diet and cleaning technique if that’s useful to you.

If you’re registering your child, we’re a Childsmile practice, which means we focus on building positive early experiences, fluoride treatments, and fissure sealants to protect young teeth from the start. Getting children comfortable early genuinely makes a difference to how they feel about the dentist as adults.

If English isn’t your first language, just let us know when you call. Translation and interpreting services can be arranged.

What We Ask in Return

We try to make registering and attending Citrus as easy as possible, and we ask for a little in return so we can keep things running smoothly for everyone.

  • Please arrive on time for your appointments
  • Give us at least 24 hours’ notice if you need to cancel
  • Pay any fees on the day treatment is carried out
  • Keep up with regular preventative appointments and look after any work we’ve done
  • Tell us if anything isn’t right, so we can sort it

All your information is handled in line with GDPR and treated with complete confidentiality.

Finance and Membership

We offer 0% finance through Medenta for private treatment, spreading the cost over fixed monthly payments. We also offer membership plans from £22.50 a month, covering routine check-ups, hygiene visits, and a discount on treatment, which can be a good option if you’re registering privately but want more predictable costs.
